Supervision to obtain the Mental Health Counselor License

Why you need a Qualified Supervisor or Approved Clinical Supervisor?

Qualified Supervisors (QS) and Approved Clinical Supervisors (ACS) are licensed psychotherapists who have received special training in clinical supervision, have extensive experience in psychotherapy, and have obtained certifications as supervisors that authorize them to supervise future psychotherapists.

The Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling requires that registered interns from each of these professions:

  • Clinical Social Work
  • Marriage and Family Therapy
  • Mental Health Counseling

Receive supervision from a qualified supervisor before being eligible for independent licensure.
